Walnut Grove and 7 other area cities have put together a safety group to share the cost of safety training.  There will be 8 training dates scheduled in 2010 to cover a variety of safety topics.  It is the responsibility of all department supervisors to make sure that all of their employees obtain any required safety training either by attending the training or obtaining the necessary materials for the supervisor to train the employees.

Discussion was held on the delinquent Utility accounts.  The council approved that 2 of the accounts that are not likely to be collected can be purged from the system and turned over to the collection agency or assessed to the property taxes.  One account was activated inadvertently and was not realized until there was a past due amount on the account.  There was never any usage of water, and the council approved this account be deleted from the system.

Lee Steffen addressed the council regarding the vacant property next to his.  This property is not slotted to be on the auction in 2010.  Lee asked for the council to consider any options there might be for him to obtain this property if he is willing to remove the burned out house and clean up the property.  The Clerk will speak to the City Attorney and the council will continue this discussion at the next meeting.
